September-October 2016
All classes involved were informed about the project firstly by introducing the partner countries, finding them on the map, learning about their flags, their language, their national foods before coming to the local product chosen by each one. ( Geography, Literacy (L1), English (L2). |
They created posters of every country and product and shared information from various sources that deepen their knowledge about them. |
The students ( 5th& 6th grade)at the beginning of the project have started an initial research on the topic of ‘food’ and its culture throughout time. They explore, by the help of Literature, History, Art and web sources the Greek eating habits in Antiquity, food presented in various forms of Art (e.g. paintings of Greek Symposiums) and compare their findings with Modern times, talking about habits and foods that have disappeared over the years. |

Meanwhile, 4th graders have started keeping a diary of their daily food intake. A fortnight later, their P.H teacher did some work on healthy eating habits with them, “building” a food pyramid, while still keeping their diaries up to date and came to compare their changes-if any- a month later, after having adopted healthy habits such as consuming more water, fruit and veggies during the day, less ready made food and being consciously aware of labelling and quality issues. |
